NATIONAL CURRICULUM OVERVIEWS 2016-2017
Work is planned jointly, in Year groups of three teaching staff with close liaison, communication and support from our teaching assistant team. During planning, Year Teams share the preparation of work, drawing on different experiences, knowledge and expertise to ensure work is relevant and well matched to meet the needs of the children. In this way, we are able to utilise the strengths of a large staff team and enhance the quality of learning and teaching.
Children are taught using a variety of methods, which include whole class teaching, group work and individual work.
Teachers choose the most appropriate method depending on the nature of the subject and the needs of the children, we believe that each child should be properly equipped with the basic tools of learning in particular of English, Numeracy and Oracy.
These are given a very high priority by teachers and are soundly taught. Assessment for Learning plays an important part in classroom practice, which helps to ensure our students are fully involved in assessing their own work.
