Internet Safety: Did you know that 37% of children aged 3 – 4 years use the internet through a PC or laptop?
It is obvious, the use of the internet is very much a part of our everyday lives, however, it is not without risks for young children, who may come across inappropriate content or begin to copy what older children do online.
In our busy and stressed lives it is easy to forget to watch children’s use of the internet and as many teenagers are more than able on the computer, they can be encouraged to help keep their younger siblings safe.
‘Internet Safety’ needs to be a vital part of every household and parents should set rules, stay involved and place themselves in control of home broadband as well as mobile phone usage.
Enquiring from your broadband provider what safeguards they have in place is one place to start or you can visit http://www.internetmatters.org.
This website has some really helpful advice, videos and a section on ‘SET PARENT CONTROL’ which can be implemented in households to keep all members of the family safe.
If you have any concerns or would like some advice please contact Mrs Gilliland, the school’s Child Protection Officer.
