Six of our pupils, recognised for their outstanding writing ability, attended an Able Writer’s day with one of the UK’s leading performance poets, Neal Zetter.
The theme for the day was the Moon Landing on 21 July 1969 and the children started their day planning and writing ideas. They were then encouraged to use a poetry toolbox to remember to use adjectives, adverbs, similes, alliteration before editing, editing, editing to up level their work. They were told that editing is the most important part of writing.
The day ended with a Performance Poetry workshop where the children worked in mixed school teams to write and perform a poem.
